Hampi's stone chariot will feature on Rs 10 currency notes

Bellary: The stone chariot of the State’s heritage hub Hampi is among the country’s eight world heritage sites that will feature in new currency notes of Rs 10 denomination.

Deputy superintending officer of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), N C Prakash Nayakanda, of Hampi mini circle said that on request from the director general to send pictures of the chariot to feature it on currency notes, we have sent the photos of the structure taken from different angles.

The monument from the kingdom of Vijayanagar is known for its fine carvings and houses an idol of Garuda, the bird vehicle of Lord Vishnu. Two miniature elephants, that seem to pull the chariot, also find a place in the sculpture.

The secretary and joint secretaries of the union Finance ministry have already held discussions in this regard with the chief general manager of the currency management department of the country’s apex bank.

  2. I think Indian Government Start Printing of Commemorative Notes of National Monists, Heritage Sites , National Parks, Animals of India, Each year at lease 30 Different states notes should be released then only our Nation and Tourism And Heritage sites are Developing.
