There are quite a few fake coins in the market. This posts on Fake coins can be found at All The Fakes in Articles. There is also a free e-book on fake coins in download section.


This post lists out some of the fake coin dealers on e.Bay. If you know more, do drop a comment and I will include this in next update

Note quite a few eBay seller post image of Original coin that are available on Net, like Numista etc. The actual coin shipped is a fake. So please familiarize with images database before you start buying coins.

Note quite a few Seller's change the ID every 6 months or so. There may be quite a few sellers listed here that are no longer present on eBay and may have deactivated themselves.

A listing on Alibaba giving out a choice of coins die struck making it difficult to identify. The metal in some cases is easy; Silver vs Cupro-Nickel. However there are some expensive Silver coins, where forger can also strike such coins in Silver.

      There is one Snapdeal seller, Sanjayonline store, selling many high denomination coins. The coins look good but is this seller selling genuine coins or fakes coins. It will be a great help to collectors if the list is updated regularly, with a caption of the Date Updated, since many listed sellers change their names after about,say, 5-6 months or a year.

      There are fake as well as original... study the coins read the post on fakes... after practice you should be able to tell original from fake.
      The Rs 10 cupro nickel were available in UNC sets ... quite a few sets were broken and loose coins sold.

    There are lot of fake coin selling going on eBay and eBay is not taking responsibility as they are earning from it. Request all of you to judge before buying it. Mostly if the higher denomination coins are copper nickel then they are fake and if they silver and selling for less then its silver colored coins. Please be aware and check the price here and if anything is way low then its a fake for sure.
