The first part gives the details of the Paise denomination. This part gives the details of Rupee denomination.

One Naya Paise / One Paise:

The One Naya Paise / One Paise began from 1957 and the last coin minted in 1972. In the year 1962 to 1963 the coins were minted in 2 metals. Bronze being continued from old and Nickel Brass being introduced. The coin was then minted using Aluminium from 1967.

Two Naya Paise / Two Paise:

The 2 Paise began its journey along with the One Paise in 1957. It had 3 designs before being discontinued in the year 1979. The last coin was minted in Aluminium.

Three Paise:

Amongst the shortest lived coin in the Indian Coinage. This was introduced in 1964 for the first time when the Aluminium metal was introduced in the coinage. It was last minted in the year 1971.

Five Naya Paise / Five Paise:

The 5 Paise coin began its journey in the year 1957 when the decimal coinage was introduced. Starting with Cupro Nickel it soon lost its value and got converted into Aluminium.

Ten Naya Paise / Ten Paise:

The 10 Paise coin began its journey in the year 1957 when the decimal coinage was introduced. Starting with Cupro Nickel it soon lost its value got converted into Nickel Brass and then Aluminium and finally in a very small size in steel.

Twenty Paise:

The 20 paise coin was first introduced in 1968. This was supposed to be the first of a series of coins that would have national symbol on it, ie the National Flower, Bird, Animal, etc. However after introduction of Nation Flower, the theme was scrapped. The coins did not gain popularity and were discontinued. They were re-introduced in Aluminium later in 1982.

Twenty Five Naya Paise / Twenty Five Paise:

Initially there was ¼ Rupee before the decimal coinage was introduced. The 25 Paise coin of decimal coinage matched the earlier ¼ Rupee. In the new avatar it was minted in Pure Nickel it soon lost its value got converted into Cupro Nickel finally in steel.

Fifty Naya Paise / Fifty Paise:

Initially there was ½ Rupee before the decimal coinage was introduced. The 50 Paise coin of decimal coinage matched the earlier ½ Rupee. In the new avatar it was minted in Pure Nickel it soon lost its value got converted into Cupro Nickel finally in steel. The size was reduced substantially in 2011. The 50 paise has the maximun number of designs.
