The Anna series was introduced after independence as the first coinage of republic India.

The 2 Anna Series was minted in the year 1950, 1954 and 1955. The 1955 2 Anna coin is amongst the rarest coin of republic India in the definitive series. It's price is in the range of 50,000 to 60,000/- for a good quality coin. This is joined with the Rs 1 Small coin of the year 1982.
As this is very expensive, there are quite a few fake coins of this in market. I have seen some fake coins getting sold for as much as 25,000. The buyers not realizing this.
