In what is being touted as first mule in currency note, this Rs 500 Denomination has the signature of Subba Rao, however the year of printing on the back is 2014 well after Subba Rao demitted the office in Sept 2013.
Generally when there is a change of Governor, it takes a while to prepare new plates with Governors Signatures. In the interim the notes are continued to be printed with the new governor in the office. In the past this used to go unnoticed as there was no Year on the back of currency. They Year was introduced in 2005 to provide unique number to the notes as the amount of notes getting printed meant we ran out of numbers.
