1990 Care for the Girl Child
The One Rupee, 1990 Care for the Girl Child, was a theme which the SAARC members observed for the year 1990. It shows sun above and Girl Below. The mint details and Description are;


Notes: The Security edge was discontinued during this issue and milled edge adopted.

1990 Food for Future
A new Obverse design was introduced, the inner septagon [7-sided polygon] was done away with. The other details were same.

The One Rupee, 1990 Food for Future, released on world food day, shows a family doing agriculture in background water and corn are shown. The mint details and Description are;



Notes: Only coin to have date 2 times. One as part of date and other part of Legend.

1990 15th Year of ICDS
The One Rupee, 1990 15th Year of ICDS, shows seated women holding a Child with radiant lines surrounding. The mint details and Description are;


Mint: Mumbai, Hyderabad

Reverse:
Seated women holding a Child radiant lines surrounding
Date 1975 – 1990 in legend. Mint mark below seated women.
Legend 15 Years of ICDS in English. “Samkit Bal Vikas Seva Yojana ke 15 Varsh” in Hindi. “VasudevKutumbakam” in Sanskrit on top meaning “People are our kin”

Edge Variety:
Some collectors have reported Plain edge from Mumbai Mint

1990 Dr BR Ambedkar
The One Rupee, 1990 Dr BR Ambedkar, to mark his Birth Centenary. There are quite a few fake coins as well that are doing rounds. Surprisingly there was no Proof Set's issued. The mint details and Description are;




Note: A Specific Obverse die was created for this issue. Notice the dots on the pherephery.
A mule coin from Mumbai mint is also available where the Obverse used is a regular Obverse without the dotted lines

1991 Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference
The One Rupee, 1991 Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference was held in New Delhi. The reverse shows the Indian Parliamentary Building with Flag. The details and Description are;

Die Variety:
There is Lion Variety with flat chested Lion, possibly due to use of worn dies. There is a also Normal Lion.

1991 Rajiv Gandhi
The One Rupee, 1991 Rajiv Gandhi commemorative was issued on the death of Gandhi. The Youngest Indian Prime Minister of India. The mint details and Description are;



Note: There are some lists that mention this coin as “Noida” mint. However this is actually Bombay mint variation with small dot that looks like Noida. There was no issue of this coin by Noida mint.

Die Variety:
The Hyderabad Mint few collectors have reported Plain Edge. There are also 2 types of Reeded Edges from Hyderabad Mint.

The One Rupee, 1992 Food and Nutrition, released on world food day shows nutritious items like milk, fish, eggs and vegetables and wheat stalks. The mint details and Description are;

Nutritious items like milk, fish, eggs & Vegetables, Wheat Stalks
Date 1992 Below.
Legend Food and Nutrition; World Food Day in English. “Khad Evam Pooshakta” and “Vishwa Khadiya Diwas” in Hindi.

Edge Variety: Plain edge has been reported by few collectors.
