2010 Platinum Jubilee of Reserve Bank of India
The 2 Rupees, 2010 Platinum Jubilee of Reserve Bank of India, The mint details and Description are;
On this occasion a proof Set and UNC Set was also issued.
Coins of Rs 1, Rs 5 and Rs 10 for circulation were also issued.




Note: Amongst non-leaders there are only few themes that have multiple issues. The Independence theme that saw Silver Jubilee and 50 Years Golden Jubilee. The other issue being the Reserve Bank of India that saw 50 Years as well as 75 Years.

Interesting: A strange division. Normally when a commemorative is issued, depending on the capacity more than one mint strikes the same issue. Incase of RBI there is an interesting fact, whether this was on purpose or coincidental its for mints to tell. There were 4 coins struck in different denominations and by different mints. IE the Rs 1 was struck only from Hyderabad Mint, the Rs 2 was struck only from Kolkata Mint, the Rs 5 was struck only from Mumbai mint and the Rs 10 was struck only from Noida mint.

1996 Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Birth Centenary, Error Coin
The 2 Rupees, 1996 Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Birth Centenary, was erroneously issued by the Kolkata mint. The Mint official realized this and point out the error. The actual Centenary Year of Bose is 1997. Once the mistake was realized, the coin was withdrawn. It is not known as to how many coins are still in circulation and how many were withdrawn. Taking a fancy to this, there are quite a few fakes also available. Refer to the fake coins section for more details. The actual coin was then issued by all mints in the correct year 1997.

Part 3: The rising cost of cupro-nickel resulted in the mint adopting Steel for the Rupee coinage for both definitive and commemorative. The edges initially were milled but later were changed to plain edges. The 1994 and 1995 saw both the edges being in use by Mints in Commemorative as well as definitive.

1994 year of the Family
The One Rupee, 1994 year of the Family, was celebrated as the UN proclaimed the year 1994 as year of the family. The reverse shows Father, Mother, Son and Daughter. The mint details and Description are;


Note: There are some lists that mention this coin as “Calcutta” mint. However this is actually “Mumbai” mint. There is a die wear / die clog that does not show the mint mark properly and is mistaken for Calcutta mint.
The Noida mint is also not confirmed. The supposed Noida mint mark is not very clearly visible and always worn out coin.

Note: There are some lists that mention this coin as “Noida” mint. However this is actually Bombay mint variation with small dot that looks like Noida. There was no issue of this coin by Noida mint.
